And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning him; he cried out, saying,

  4. Εἰς τὰ ἴδια ἦλθεν ἀπεσταλμένος παρὰ πατρὸς, καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν ἡμῖν,ἀλλ ̓ οἱ ἴδιοι αὐτὸν οὐκ ἔλαβον.
  5. Ἦν μονογενὴς παρὰ θεοῦ, πλήρης φωτὸς καὶ χάριτος.
  6. Ἰωάνης ἦλθεν ἵνα μαρτυρήσῃ περὶ αὐτοῦ.
  7. Πάντες αὐτὸν οὐκ ἔλαβον.
  8. Μαρτυρεῖ, μαρτυρήσῃ; γέγονεν, κέκραγεν; λέγων, ἐρχόμενος, ἀπεσταλμένος.

  9. This man came for a witness.
  10. We beheld the glory of God.
  11. He was the only-begotten of the father, full of life and truth.
  12. The word became man and dwelt in the world, but the world knew him not.
  13. He came in order that all might believe in him.
  14. He gave to those believing in his name power to become children of God.
